6. SUMMARY AND SUGGESTIONS

1.1     Purposes of practicum
The aim of this program is to improve the experience in teaching, especially in other countries. In addition, this program also has a function to broaden knowledge, how to teach well, the types of teaching such as what is suitable, how to properly arrange lesson plans, and how to manage the class so that it is conducive.

1.2     Procedures of practicum
The procedure that is in accordance with the SEAMEO is given in the first week, SEA Teacher must make observations. This observation is done so that SEA Teacher can find out how to teach in accordance with the school's objectives, what should be done in teaching, and prepare the material to be taught in a teaching practicum. Then in the second week, teaching assistants were held. The purpose of teaching assistants is to teach together with English teachers, to find out how to teach and provide teaching material to students. In addition, the purpose of teaching assistants is to find out ways to organize the class properly and correctly. In the last two weeks, teaching practice was conducted, where this activity was a core activity of SEA Teacher. In this activity, the SEA Teacher must teach based on the lesson plan that has been created and must be able to arrange the class well.
Although SEAMEO has made a schedule as explained earlier, the schedule is returned again to the recipient university and destination school. Sometimes, there are several schools that provide schedules for teaching practice for one week. The schedule is usually arranged by the school.

1.3     Outcomes of practicum
The results obtained from this teaching practicum are experiences to teach students in the classroom. In addition, SEA Teacher can make appropriate lesson plans such as basic competencies, explanations of teaching materials and the time needed for each meeting.

1.4     The challenges of practicum
Many students are difficult to organize by the teacher, especially for students in elementary school. Because they are difficult to receive lessons if only explained without learning by doing. In addition, SEA Teacher must adjust to the conditions in the destination country. For example, in Thailand, the average population is still difficult to use English. So, it is difficult for SEA Teachers who visit to communicate with the people, especially with students.

1.5     Overall impression
The impression that I got from this program was learning to understand each other, teaching well to students especially Prathom 5 where they were still having difficulty receiving lessons in English. Besides that, I also got the experience of how I can make lesson plans well, arrange classes to be conducive, and so on.
The recipient's university and recipient's school are also very good, so that makes me feel comfortable with activities while in Thailand.

1.6     Suggestions for future improvement

I hope in the next batch, SEAMEO can better organize the receiving universities and destination schools. I still find it difficult to contact the destination school because I did not receive the information about the destination school before I left. I do not know about what activities are in school and what is needed for the school. Before leaving, it is expected that SEA Teacher has been told about the destination school so that they can know what needs to be prepared.
